Police warn Cypriot students of email scam

According to a police announcement, unknown individuals have been targeting Cypriot students.

Specifically, the Cybercrime Unit has received a number of complaints from both educational institutions (private universities) and citizens that mass emails have been sent to a large number of students attending various educational institutions in Cyprus.

These messages inform them of an outstanding tuition payment and direct them to specific bank accounts for payment, a practice not typically used by these educational institutions (private universities).

Recipients of such messages are advised to be extra careful, not to make any payments, and to inform their educational institution about the emails.
