The police flooded urban centres last night in a massive, coordinated crackdown that led to eleven arrests and hundreds of traffic citations across the island. Targeted patrols aimed at stifling serious crime and securing public order resulted in the detention of six individuals for active criminal offences and five more for outstanding court warrants. In Limassol, officers intercepted three suspects—two for carrying knives and one for drug possession—while Paphos units arrested two men for forgery and possession of suspected stolen property.
Road safety enforcement hit hard as officers stopped over 790 vehicles and screened more than 1,000 people. One motorist was hauled into custody after being clocked at a staggering 187 km/h on the motorway. Across the network, traffic police issued 366 citations, including 36 for drink-driving, out of more than 430 breathalyser tests conducted. By the end of the shift, authorities had impounded 31 vehicles and recovered €1,290 in unpaid fines.
The operation also extended to 41 business premises to suppress late-night delinquency, leading to four reports for licensing violations. Police headquarters stated these intensified actions are part of a permanent, evolving strategy to bolster public safety through high-visibility policing and immediate operational strikes in every district.
