Police probe unexplained death of Norwegian woman in Paralimni flat

Police are investigating the unexplained death of a 49-year-old Norwegian woman found in her Paralimni flat today, with disturbance at the scene prompting inquiries into whether foul play was involved.

The woman, who had health problems, had not been in contact for 24 hours and failed to attend a hospital where she had scheduled surgery. A person known to her entered the first-floor flat through the balcony shortly before 2pm and found her dead in the bathroom.

The flat showed signs of severe disturbance with broken objects, police sources said.

Forensic pathologists Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou examined the scene, which remains cordoned off. A post-mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow at 11:30am to determine the cause of death.

Members of the Police Headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Service conducted extensive searches of the flat and collected evidence for scientific examination.
