Members of the police carried out a targeted operation in areas of Limassol from midnight until 5 a.m. today, as part of their efforts to prevent serious crime, juvenile delinquency, and disturbances.
During the operation, more than 300 checks were conducted on vehicles and individuals, as well as 75 alcohol tests, which resulted in 39 reports for traffic offenses. In addition, four cars and nine motorcycles were impounded for further examination.
At the same time, three individuals were arrested for offenses related to drugs, assault against a police officer, and possession of an offensive weapon.
Specifically, a small quantity of drugs was found in the possession of a 19-year-old motorcyclist, while a taser was found in the vehicle of a 45-year-old, who had committed various traffic violations. Furthermore, after a 44-year-old driver of a large-capacity motorcycle was stopped for committing traffic violations, he assaulted a police officer.
Police checks continue daily, around the clock, throughout Cyprus. The aim is to reinforce the public’s sense of security and to prevent and combat crime.
