Police arrest two in separate drug busts across Larnaca and Limassol

Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) officers arrested two men in Larnaca and Limassol yesterday, 10 January, during separate operations targeting illegal drug possession.

A 39-year-old motorcyclist landed in custody after crashing his bike into a car driven by a 51-year-old woman on Kyriakou Matsi Avenue in Larnaca around midday. Paramedics rushed the man to Larnaca General Hospital with minor injuries. Acting on a tip-off, YKAN officers searched the suspect at the hospital and discovered 24 nylon bags containing approximately 14.7 grams of methamphetamine. Police later confirmed the man was also riding without a driving licence or insurance.

In a second raid, Limassol YKAN officers searched the home of a 24-year-old man. Investigators opened a safe to find three nylon bags holding roughly 2.2 grams of cocaine alongside a set of precision scales. Officers seized the man’s stash and 1,875 euros in cash to determine if the money came from drug trafficking. Both men remain under arrest as YKAN investigators in Larnaca and Limassol continue their enquiries.
