Paralimni – Deryneia launches new guide to boost diving tourism

The Municipality of Paralimni – Deryneia is leveraging one of the strong points of its tourist areas by preparing a guide detailing local diving sites and their difficulty levels. The diving guide was recently presented to the owners of the diving centres operating in Protaras and the “Kapparis” area.

At the meeting, it was noted that the diving guide constitutes a comprehensive promotional tool, designed to systematically showcase diving tourism and the marine wealth of the area. The guide will be distributed free of charge to both residents and visitors of the municipality. It features all the diving sites included in the tourist area through a specially designed map, which includes a classification based on the level of difficulty. Furthermore, basic safety instructions are listed, and a detailed record of the marine fauna and the special characteristics of each site is provided.

Mayor Yiorgos Nikolettos expressed his satisfaction with the positive response from industry professionals, emphasising that the diving guide constitutes an essential tool for sustainable tourist development and the strengthening of the municipality’s natural identity. He also thanked those who contributed voluntarily to the design, documentation, and provision of material, with a special mention to the contribution of Lefteris Souttos and Andreas Siantanis, who, he said, played an active role in the coordination and technical support of the effort, in cooperation with the diving centres in the area.
