A 26-year-old man remains in critical condition in a private hospital in Limassol after an attempted murder in Konia, Paphos district, on Wednesday afternoon.
The 26-year-old is fighting for his life and is being treated in a medically induced coma in the Intensive Care Unit. Doctors told that the next 24 hours could prove decisive for improving his condition, given that no further deterioration was observed during the first 48 hours.
The police investigation into the attempted murder is in full swing, with investigators focusing on the telecommunications data of the 26-year-old victim and the 58-year-old suspect, who is being held under an eight-day remand order. Police are also examining video footage received from closed-circuit systems in the area.
In parallel, the investigation continues with officers taking dozens of statements from neighbours, passing motorists, and people in the inner circle of the two individuals involved in the incident.
The case of attempted murder and carrying a knife, being investigated by the Paphos CID, occurred on Wednesday around 6:15 p.m. outside a kiosk on a main road in Konia.
Under circumstances being investigated by the Police, the 26-year-old and the 58-year-old met late Wednesday afternoon outside the kiosk on the main road. Following an argument, the 58-year-old allegedly pulled a knife and seriously injured the 26-year-old.
According to Cyprus News Agency (CNA) sources, the young man initially appeared to have received the first blows while in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. The alleged perpetrator then opened the passenger door and continued the attack.
The 26-year-old sustained wounds to various parts of his body.
