Paphos airport begins major runway expansion work

Paphos International Airport has begun major expansion works that will add rapid exit taxiways and increase terminal capacity by roughly 30 per cent, upgrading the facility’s operational capabilities.

The Phase 2 development, running parallel to similar works at Larnaca airport, extends beyond building modifications to include new rapid exit taxiways that will allow aircraft to leave the runway more quickly, significantly enhancing the airport’s capacity and services.

The expansion will improve passenger experience and the efficiency of checks and procedures whilst extending the southern parallel taxiway to strengthen the airport’s operational flexibility, according to operator Hermes Airports.

Hermes has implemented temporary traffic arrangements on the road outside the arrivals area from early this month until early December. One lane in front of the terminal building will remain open at all times to ensure continuous traffic flow during the works.

Special signage will redirect traffic, and staff will be stationed on site during peak hours to assist with traffic management and pedestrian safety.

Hermes Airports has asked for the understanding and cooperation of travellers for the best possible traffic management during the works.
