Paphos is significantly strengthening its air connectivity with Germany for the summer of 2026 through increased Ryanair services and new Lufthansa flights from Munich.
Ryanair will operate nine inbound weekly flights from four German airports to Paphos International Airport, according to the Paphos Regional Board of Tourism.
Berlin-Brandenburg, Cologne and Düsseldorf will each have two flights per week, whilst Memmingen-Munich will have three weekly services.
Lufthansa will connect Munich with Paphos with three regular weekly flights during summer 2026, expanding travel options for visitors from Germany and other markets connected through the airline’s international network.
“The strengthening of air connections with Germany is a development of strategic importance for the Paphos Region,” said Nasos Hadjigeorgiou, director of the Paphos Regional Board of Tourism.
“The new and increased flights create significant prospects for further tourism growth, extension of the tourist season, attraction of higher-quality visitors, and enhancement of the local economy”.
However, Cyprus’s performance in the German market remains unsatisfactory, the board noted. Out of approximately 75 million outbound trips from Germany, Cyprus attracts only about 250,000 arrivals, representing just 0.33 per cent, whilst Crete records 1.6 million arrivals, Rhodes 1 million and Mallorca 4.3 million.
The board is adjusting its action plan to include participation in the Munich 2026 Travel exhibition in January, examining adaptation of its digital campaign with emphasis on the German market, and initiatives to host German journalists, bloggers and travel professionals in the region.
