Oil spills appeared along Oroklini’s coastal front on Friday morning.
Swimmers spotted the spills around 11:30am both in the sea and along the shoreline and notified authorities.
Oroklini Deputy Mayor Neophytos Fakontis arrived at the scene whilst the Fisheries Department initiated investigations to identify the source of the pollution.
Initial assessments suggest the pollution likely originated from a vessel, according to preliminary findings. Authorities are examining whether larger quantities of petroleum substances exist within the marine area.
