GHS (GESY) beneficiaries will be able to use a barcode to fill prescriptions at system pharmacies from this Friday, without having to verbally provide their personal details to the pharmacist, the Health Insurance Organisation has announced.
The barcode will be available electronically through the Beneficiaries Portal and can be displayed directly at the pharmacy on a mobile phone, tablet or other portable device. It will appear in the portal under the “Available Referrals” section, in the “Prescriptions” category. The pharmacist will scan it and process the prescription immediately.
Beneficiaries who prefer not to use the barcode can continue to show their identity card at the pharmacy as an alternative to sharing personal data verbally.
