Greece’s Civil Protection Ministry is on alert since late Monday as the highest levels of rain are expected to fall again in Thessaly, according to the National Meteorological Service.
A week after severe weather battered parts of Greece causing havoc, Elias is set to bring in heavy rains and storms accompanied by hail and a high frequency of lightning.
According to the weather forecast, in the Ionian and the continental areas except for eastern Macedonia and Thrace, there will be clouds with local rains and sporadic storms.
The effects will be locally strong in Epirus, western Macedonia, Thessaly, western and central Sterea Hellas and possibly in the Ionian, northern Peloponnese and western parts of central Macedonia.
In the rest of the country, there will be temporary clouds.
Also, the winds will blow in the south-west 4 to 5 Beaufort, in the rest of the country from northern directions 3 to 5 and in the northern Aegean northeast up to 6 to 7 Beaufort.
The temperature will drop and reach 26 to 29 degrees in the west, 29 to 32 in the east and locally 33 degrees Celsius in the Dodecanese.
