Members of the Cyprus National Handball Team experienced moments of anxiety early Saturday morning in Estonia. On the Tallinn–Tartu highway, near the Neanurme area, the bus transporting the delegation from Tallinn to Põlva left the road and overturned due to particularly difficult weather conditions. A total of 23 people were on board the vehicle.
According to the Estonian Handball Federation, two members of the Cypriot delegation were transferred preventatively to Tartu University Hospital for medical examination, while the rest continued their journey to Põlva on a replacement bus, where they arrived safely.
The Estonian Handball Federation reported that they are in close communication with the Cyprus national team and the representatives of the European Handball Federation and are closely monitoring the development of the situation. They also thanked the Southern Rescue Center and the Tartu ambulance, who acted promptly and quickly and with whose cooperation they were able to manage the situation.
