Near 30s and weekend dust, storms next week

A high pressure system pushing temperatures to the near or even slightly over 30s will persist this weekend, coupled by harmful high concentrations of dust microparticles through to Monday, affecting vulnerable groups and people with chronic respiratory illnesses. Early next week will see a dramatic change in setting, with a western direction system bringing heavy storms.

Mostly clear skies today, with high cloud at intervals. Winds will be light to moderate northeasterly to northwesterly, slight to moderate force three to four and in western and northern coastal regions, strong force four to five, over slight seas. Temperatures will reach 29 degrees Celsius inland, 28 in coastal regions and 23 on the mountains.

Fine tonight, with northerly to northeasterly winds, southeasterly in the north, light to moderate, force three to four, over calm to slight seas. It will be 14 degrees Celsius inland and on the mountains and 16 along the coasts.

Quite the similar outlook tomorrow across Cyprus, but Monday will see a change of scenery to an almost wintry prediction of isolated showers and storms, from early afternoon onwards, while inland storms are expected on Tuesday too, but affecting mountainous regions.

There will be a significant drop in temperatures early next week, down to the seasonal average.
