The National Guard has carried out the first acceptance firings of new TAMNAVA multiple rocket launchers procured from Serbia, with the tests taking place on Cypriot soil.
Acceptance firings are a process through which the National Guard examines a system’s functionality before accepting it into service. Serbian specialists were present at Kition Firing Range last Wednesday to assist in the examination process, according to philenews information.
Cypriot gunners travelled to Serbia last summer for firings and training on handling the systems. Competent sources said the first conclusions about their performance are characterised as excellent.
The TAMNAVA multiple rocket launcher is a technologically advanced, fully automated system of high operational value distinguished for its mobility and effectiveness.
Its integration upgrades the Artillery weapon, offering capabilities for rapid response, increased accuracy and substantial firepower in mission execution.
The system can be configured by gunners to launch larger calibre missiles, which can reach up to 70 kilometres in range, turning it into a strategic weapon.
It can operate as an autonomous, independent fire unit without requiring a Fire Direction Centre. The new system constitutes a significant step in continuous modernisation and substantially strengthens the operational readiness and deterrent power of the National Guard.
