Authorities are investigating yet another fatal accident, as Artem Fomichov, a 28 year old Ukrainian national, has died from injuries sustained after his motorbike was sideswiped by a trailer truck attempting a right turn onto the main Dromolaxia-Larnaca road on Thursday.
He was being treated in critical condition at the Larnaca General ICU and sadly succumbed shortly before midnight yesterday.
The collision happened at seven in the morning, when according to police reports, the victim moved across the side of the truck, as the 70 year old driver was attempting a right turn. Under as yet unidentified circumstances, the body of the vehicle swerved and cut off the motorcycle’s course, throwing the 28 year old onto the tarmac.
Examinations were conducted at the scene and evidence collected, in order to establish the circumstances which led to the accident. A helmet was found and it’s yet to be ascertained whether the victim was wearing it.
