Mitsotakis and Macron arrive at Paphos air base (photos)

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and French President Emmanuel Macron arrived shortly before 1:00pm at the Andreas Papandreou air base in Paphos.

President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides is already at the base to welcome the two leaders and begin the official programme of contacts in Paphos.

Several members of the Cypriot government are also present at the air base alongside the president.

Among those at the reception area are Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas and government spokesman Constantinos Letymbiotis, as well as other government officials.

Heightened activity has also been observed outside the air base, with a strong presence of French and other European naval vessels recorded in the sea area around Cyprus.

Helicopters have also been taking off from the base to transport military officials from those ships to the Andreas Papandreou air base to attend the welcoming ceremony.
