The Department of Public Works of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Works has announced roadwork on the Nicosia–Limassol, Nicosia–Larnaca, and Nicosia–Akaki highways.
Specifically, in an announcement regarding the work on the Nicosia-Limassol highway, the Office of the District Engineer of Nicosia’s Department of Public Works states that horizontal marking works will be carried out on the A1 highway, Nicosia–Limassol, from the GSP roundabout to the Kalispera traffic lights, from Monday, September 1, 2025, to Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the next day.
It states that this specific work will be carried out section by section with the closure of one lane at a time and adds that in each case, during the work, there will be appropriate temporary signage for the smooth flow of traffic.
Furthermore, regarding the Nicosia-Larnaca highway, the Office of the District Engineer of Nicosia states that on Monday, September 1, 2025, and Monday, September 8, 2025, between 9:30 AM and 1:30 PM, from the junction with the Nicosia-Limassol highway (A1) to the Rizelia roundabout, work will be carried out periodically to remove, move, and reinstall signs on the highway in the direction of the Rizelia roundabout.
It adds that during the work, the left lane of the highway will be closed locally for about 100 m. and traffic will be diverted to the right lane. Regarding the work on the Nicosia-Akaki highway, the Office of the District Engineer of Nicosia’s Department of Public Works states that on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, and Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM the next day, work will be carried out to remove and re-pave the roadway on the Nicosia–Akaki highway, in the direction of Nicosia from the exit of Deneia to the Akaki roundabout.
It adds that for this purpose, traffic from Nicosia to Astromeritis will be diverted through the Kokkinotrimithia interchange to Grigoris Afxentiou Avenue and then through Kokkinotrimithia to Astromeritis.
It also states that traffic from Astromeritis to Nicosia will be diverted through the Akaki roundabout to Grigoris Afxentiou Avenue and then through Kokkinotrimithia. According to the Department of Public Works, the entrance from Deneia to the highway in the direction of Nicosia will remain closed.
In each case, it adds, during the work, there will be appropriate temporary signage for the smooth flow of traffic. Finally, the Department of Public Works apologises for the unavoidable inconvenience that will be caused and calls on the public to show the necessary understanding and compliance with the temporary road signs and police instructions.
