Melco Cyprus has launched its “Cultural Ambassadors” programme in partnership with the Limassol Tourism Board.
According to a press release by Melco, the goal of the project is to equip all colleagues in order to become familiar with the history, traditions, and attractions of Cyprus.
Through the scheme, “Melco colleagues can become extended ‘tourism ambassadors’ by imparting such knowledge to guests. The programme is expected to be rolled out to all Melco Cyprus colleagues,” the company said.
The first batch of Melco personnel attended a two-day comprehensive training combining both classroom seminars and site visits to the Kourion theatre and Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates, among others.
Christina Charalambous, Head of Market Development at the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, said, “We are certain that Melco’s Cultural Ambassadors will become great representatives of the destination who will present the country to guests and visitors in the best possible way.” She complimented Melco for its vision to support tourism through its innovative approach.
Grant Johnson, Property General Manager of City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos, said, “Cyprus is a country with a rich and diverse cultural heritage. I am confident that our Cultural Ambassadors will contribute to the promotion of local culture and together, create more memorable experiences for guests and visitors in Cyprus. Melco is committed to supporting the preservation and development of local culture and heritage.”
Culture and Heritage is one of the strategic pillars of Melco’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy in Cyprus.
In 2021, Melco sponsored the installation of four new gates at the Acropolis of Ancient Kourion and the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates, as part of the “Heritage Gates” project in collaboration with the Department of Antiquities in Archaeological Heritage Management, with the aim to actively promote the authenticity of the island’s most significant heritage sites.
