Massive search operation underway for missing Russian businessman

A large-scale search and rescue mission launched on Sunday morning to locate 56-year-old Russian businessman Vladislav Baumgertner, who has been missing since 7 January. Police forces, supported by a helicopter and drones, have saturated the Pissouri area after tracking the final signal from his mobile phone to the coastal region.

Civil Defence units and teams of volunteers joined the operation following an official missing person alert issued by the Limassol CID. Baumgertner was last seen leaving his residence in Limassol four days ago.

Police describe Baumgertner as being approximately 1.90 metres tall, of slim build, with grey hair. He was last spotted wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Limassol CID at 25-805057, their nearest police station, or the Citizen’s Line at 1460.
