Massive queues reported at Larnaca airport following general strike

Passengers reported overcrowding at Larnaca airport this afternoon as a general strike affected flight scheduling, with some flights being rescheduled.

Philenews received complaints from passengers who expressed fears they might miss their flights due to the situation that developed. Large queues formed in both the check-in areas and the departure areas during baggage security checks.

Hermes Airports, the airport management company, told Philenews that 20 rescheduled flights were processed between 2:00pm and 4:30pm. “Some crowding was observed, but it was expected due to the many flights that were moved because of the general strike,” the company said, noting that the situation has now normalised.
