Man stabbed outside his Protaras home

Police are currently investigating an incident that saw a 41-year-old man stabbed in Protaras on Thursday morning.

According to Famagusta police spokesperson Steve Theodoulou, officers received a call reporting a knife attack around 7.30am.

The incident took place outside the victim’s house, in his courtyard.

Police rushed to the scene and identified the victim as a 41-year-old from Paralimni.

“He was transported by ambulance to the Famagusta general hospital, where doctors had to intubate and operate on him, as he was repeatedly stabbed in various parts of his body,” Theodoulou said.

Later in the morning, at around 8.15am, police received a call reporting a man brandishing a knife at a nearby hotel.

When spotted by officers, the man attempted to flee by jumping off a wall. However, he injured his leg and had to be taken to the Famagusta general hospital as well.

As a result of his attempted escape, he fractured his leg.

Both crime scenes have been cordoned off by the police, and the alleged connection between the two incidents is being investigated by the Famagusta CID.
