A 21-year-old was stabbed in the neck during a street attack in Nicosia on Monday in what police are investigating as attempted murder.
The victim arrived at the accident and emergency department of Nicosia General Hospital at around 12:15 pm. He underwent surgery and remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Police learned of the incident from the hospital at around 4:20pm. According to information under examination, the 21-year-old and a second person accompanying him were attacked by one individual who was with four others, under circumstances still being investigated.
During an argument, one of the five allegedly struck the 21-year-old in the neck with a blade and punched the second person in the nose. The attacker then fled on foot, while the remaining four stayed at the scene to assist the victim.
The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department is continuing its investigations.
