A 57-year-old Cypriot passenger was fined €3,901 and ordered to pay nearly €20,000 in taxes and duties after customs officials at Larnaca Airport discovered he had failed to declare a luxury watch and clothing accessory worth over €105,000.
Customs Department officials found the items in the man’s luggage on 1 December during routine checks of passengers passing through the green “nothing to declare” channel, according to an announcement. The passenger had arrived from Switzerland.
The man was fined €3,901 for failing to declare the goods. Customs collected €19,012.84 in applicable duties and taxes.
