Major airlines suspend Cyprus flights after Iranian drone strike on Akrotiri

EasyJet and the Lufthansa Group suspended all their flights to and from Cyprus on Monday, a spokesperson for Hermes Airports told in-cyprus.

The decision follows strikes with Iranian-made drones at RAF Akrotiri.

The suspension of services by easyJet includes all flights connecting the UK with Larnaca and Paphos international airports. Simultaneously, the Lufthansa Group—which operates Austrian Airlines, Edelweiss, and Lufthansa—suspended its routes from Munich, Vienna, and Zurich until further notice.

Beyond the European suspensions, flights to Tel Aviv, Amman, and Dubai remain largely halted.

Meanwhile, the UK Foreign Office has updated its travel guidance for Cyprus following Iranian drone strikes on RAF Akrotiri, warning British nationals of a heightened risk of regional tension.

“There is a heightened risk of regional tension. Escalation could lead to travel disruption and other unanticipated impacts. British nationals should take sensible precautions, considering their own individual circumstances,” the updated guidance warns.

The Foreign Office maintains there remains an ongoing risk in Cyprus, urging British nationals to exercise “sensible precautions” whilst in the territory.
