Low pressure is temporarily affecting Cyprus, with isolated showers expected overnight, stronger winds along the coast and frost likely in higher mountain areas.
Tonight, patches of increased cloud are expected to bring isolated rain, mainly in the west, north and mountains. Winds will blow from the southwest to northwest at light to moderate force 3 to 4, and at times force 4 to 5 along the coast. The sea will be slight to rough, while in the west and at times in the north it will be rough to very rough. Temperatures will fall to around 9 °C inland and along the south and east coasts, around 12 °C in the remaining coastal areas and around 2 °C in the highest mountains, where frost is expected to form locally.
On Monday, the weather will be mostly fine in several areas, but increased cloud is expected to bring isolated showers or a brief thunderstorm, initially mainly in the west and later in the southeast. Winds will blow from the southwest to northwest, generally moderate at force 4, briefly rising to force 4 to 5 along the coast and later at times reaching force 6 along the south coast. The sea will be up to rough. Temperatures will rise to around 19C inland, on the west, southwest and north coasts, around 20C on the remaining coasts and around 10C in the highest mountains.
On Monday night, increased cloud is expected in the west and north. Winds will be mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light force 3 and at times light to moderate force 3 to 4. The sea will gradually become rough.
On Tuesday, increased cloud around midday and in the afternoon could bring isolated rain in the mountains and the north. On Wednesday and Thursday, the weather will be partly cloudy at times, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms expected.
Temperatures will rise on Tuesday, then fall by Thursday to near or slightly below average seasonal levels.
Snow depth at Mount Olympus (Chionistra) was 8 centimetres at the time the bulletin was issued.
At 2 p.m. on Sunday, the maximum temperature was 20 °C in Nicosia, 22 °C at Larnaca Airport, 19 °C in Limassol, 19 °C at Paphos Airport, 21 °C in Frenaros, 7 °C in Prodromos and 20 °C in Polis Chrysochous. Relative humidity at the same time stood at 45% in Nicosia, 52% at Larnaca Airport, 53% in Limassol, 62% at Paphos Airport, 59% in Frenaros, 79% in Prodromos and 57% in Polis Chrysochous.
