Limassol MP accused of physical assault following an incident abroad

A woman filed a formal complaint at the Limassol Police Headquarters today, Sunday, 4 January, accusing a Member of Parliament for the Limassol district of physical assault and causing bodily harm.

The complainant alleges the attack occurred a few days ago while the pair were abroad. According to her statement, the man assaulted her during the trip, prompting her to report the matter to the authorities immediately upon her return to Cyprus. She has already undergone medical examinations to document her injuries.

The Limassol CID’s Violence Unit is currently spearheading the investigation. Investigators are expected to seek urgent legal guidance from the Law Office of the Republic. This consultation is necessary for two critical reasons: the alleged crime took place outside the Cypriot jurisdiction, and the suspect holds parliamentary immunity. Prosecutors must now determine if there are sufficient grounds to request the lifting of that immunity to allow the criminal probe to proceed.
