Libya’s Presidency Council suspends overseas minister, gov’t rejects the choice

 

Libya’s Presidency Council has suspended International Minister Najla Mangoush for “administrative violations” and barred her from touring, its spokesperson stated on Saturday.

The spokesperson, Najwa Wahiba, confirmed the authenticity of a doc circulating on social media ordering Mangoush’s suspension for finishing up overseas coverage with out coordination with the council.

Libya’s transitional Authorities of Nationwide Unity issued an announcement early on Sunday rejecting the council’s resolution and lauding the minister’s efforts, saying she would carry her duties usually.

The assertion, issued on the federal government’s Fb web page, stated that the Presidency Council has “no authorized proper to nominate or cancel the appointment of members of the chief authority, droop them or examine them.” It added that these powers are unique to the prime minister.

The Libyan Political Dialogue Discussion board, a U.N.-selected meeting that set a roadmap for peace in Libya, selected a three-man Presidency Council headed by Mohamed Menfi till elections are held.

Disagreement over the council’s suspension of the overseas minister is prone to improve tensions between Libya’s rival factions as they attempt to work collectively after years of battle.
