Lawyer representing detained Greek Cypriots “arrested” in occupied Trikomo

“Authorities” in occupied Trikomo have “arrested” the lawyer representing five Greek Cypriots who are being illegally detained in the occupied areas, according to reports from Özgür Gazete Kıbrıs.

The Trikomo “authorities” “arrested” lawyer Murat Metin Hakki as part of the investigation into the case of the five Greek Cypriots, the report states.

According to the publication, Hakki was the lawyer handling the cases of the five Greek Cypriots regarding information concerning their properties in the occupied areas.

The Greek Cypriots were “detained” on 19 July whilst attempting to gather information about their properties in the occupied territories.

The five Greek Cypriots face charges of “illegal entry into property” and “causing public disturbance”.

They are also accused of “violating the law on protection of personal data confidentiality”, though the relevant file for this charge has not yet been prepared.
