Larnaca Municipality has temporarily closed a section of the Oroklini coastal promenade between Mer Bleue restaurant and the Radisson Beach Resort hotel due to serious stability problems caused by recent erosion.
The erosion has created cracks in the promenade at the outdoor gym area, the municipality said.
From Wednesday, 4 February 2026, the public must use an alternative route that is not yet wheelchair accessible, though the municipality said suitable solutions will be provided soon.
“The municipality is in continuous contact with relevant government departments to resolve the severe erosion and coastal retreat phenomena in the area, which are creating particular problems for existing infrastructure,” the announcement said.
The municipality apologised for the inconvenience and urged visitors to exercise caution, especially at problem areas, and to comply with signage that will be installed.
