Journalist Makarios Drousiotis joins Volt Cyprus as Nicosia parliamentary candidate

Journalist Makarios Drousiotis will stand as a parliamentary candidate for Volt in the Nicosia district, the party confirmed after an agreement was reached this morning at Volt’s offices.

Also running in Nicosia will be party co-president Andromachi Sophocleous and sitting MP Alexandra Attalidou.

The party’s internal processes are set to conclude next week with an online congress, held through the member application as part of its participatory statutes, where the full candidate list will be approved.

The completed ballot will then be presented publicly on 28 February at an event at the University of Nicosia.

Other candidates include co-president Panos Loizou Paras in Limassol, where Penelope Vasquez Hatzilira is also expected to run. In Larnaca, Michalis Kalopaidis has been mentioned as a candidate, while Pieros Karoulas is being discussed for Famagusta and Petros Dias and Yiannis Agrotis for Paphos.

Volt is also set to open its headquarters on Demosthenis Severi Avenue in Nicosia, which will serve as its election campaign base ahead of the parliamentary elections expected in May.
