Two major Iranian industrial facilities were struck on Tuesday as the war between Iran and the United States and Israel entered its sixth week, with strikes hitting the Amirkabir Petrochemicals plant in Mahshahr, according to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, and the Arak Aluminium plant in central Iran, according to SNN News Agency.
Further details on the scale of damage or casualties at either facility were not immediately available.
The strikes came hours after Iran’s top joint military command vowed to continue and intensify attacks on Israeli and American military, security and economic infrastructure across the region, in direct response to President Donald Trump’s threat to destroy Iran.
On the same day, Iranians formed human chains around power plants and key infrastructure across the country following Trump’s threats to strike Iran’s energy sector.
Official claims put the number of registrations at more than 14 million, though the figure could not be immediately verified. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, regarded by some as Iran’s de-facto leader following the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at the start of the conflict, and President Masoud Pezeshkian both said they were prepared to sacrifice their lives to defend Iran.
