International TV series to film in Limassol during city’s carnival

Screentale Cyprus will film its mythology-inspired TV series “My Aphrodite” during next month’s Limassol Carnival, shooting action live inside the parade as part of a multi-year international production now entering its filming phase.

The pilot episode, titled “Life is a Carnival”, caps years of development and now enters production through international cooperation, company chief executive Marija Savina (Miss 4C) said. An international film star will participate in the series, though Savina declined to reveal the name. The star will film simultaneously in Rio de Janeiro.

The production builds on cultural bridges established last year when Screentale and Limassol Municipality presented Cyprus carnival culture in Rio de Janeiro and hosted Rio’s Carnival King and Queen in Limassol. The company also presented the Limassol Carnival song “Life is a Carnival” in 2025, which gives the pilot its title.

1920s London to modern Cyprus

Originally written as a novel, “My Aphrodite” evolved into a television project inspired by Cyprus myths. The story begins in 1920s London and unfolds in contemporary Cyprus, weaving together mythology, history and modern life, Savina said.

The series marks a large-scale project for Cyprus that required many years of preparation and development.

The series will bring Cyprus to international screens in a new and dynamic way, Savina said.

She will detail the project further at Wednesday’s Limassol Municipality press conference during the carnival programme presentation.
