Interior ministry sets up compensation system for Limassol fire victims

The Interior Ministry has started registration procedures for citizens affected by fires in Limassol to receive compensation through the government’s computerised payment system, it announced on Tuesday.

The Limassol Distict Administration has distributed authorisation forms to community councils in fire-affected areas for the Financial Management System (FIMAS), operated by the Treasury of the Republic.

Affected residents must complete the forms within the coming days to register for timely compensation payments, the ministry stated in a press release.

Citizens are required to submit completed and signed forms along with bank account statements or IBAN certificates to [email protected]. Submissions must be sent from personal email addresses or through community council representatives.

The ministry specified that residents already receiving mountain community support allowances or those with previous government transactions are automatically registered in the system and require no further action.
