The day after the President sent back two approved bills – one concerning repercussions on consumers from rising electricity and fuel prices, the other on foreclosures – the House plenum is urgently meeting on Tuesday.
But the outcome of the session is more than predictable, Philenews reports, adding that opposition parties which have the majority anyway will certainly vote down the referrals.
And the President – most certainly – will refer the issue before the Supreme Court for adjudication.
And by the time the Supreme Court takes a decision the dates of implementation of the bills will have expired without any substantial result for the consumer.
Acting on advice from the attorney-general, the president says the three bills violate various articles of the constitution.
The referred bills specifically relate to VAT on electricity and fuel, the other on extending a freeze on property foreclosures till the end of October.
