Heavy rain, thunderstorms and hail hit several parts of Cyprus on Saturday, as weather conditions began to clear a thick layer of dust covering the island.
In Nicosia, thunder, intense rainfall and hail were reported as the storm moved through the area.
The sudden downpour is expected to improve air quality, with forecasts indicating that the suffocating African dust will clear by the evening.
A warning from the Department of Meteorology for an extreme dust episode remains in effect from 11:30 until 18:00.
