Health minister meets Multiple Sclerosis Association representatives

Health Minister Popi Kanari on Monday met the leaders of the Pancyprian Multiple Sclerosis Association to listen to their requests regarding the provision of medication to chronic patients from public hospital pharmacies on a bi-monthly basis instead of a monthly one.

According to the association, granting patients medication on a bi-monthly basis would ensure them unhindered access to all consumables and medical supplies, as well as better physiotherapy sessions for individuals with severe mobility disabilities.

The issue of state funding for physiotherapy, kinetic therapy and psychological support programmes was also discussed.

Kanari, on her part, said the association’s requests were legitimate and promised to do everything in her power to address the issue by taking it up with the Health Insurance Oraganisation (HIO).
