Flooding shuts roads in Polis Chrysochous as fire service responds

Heavy rainfall lashed Polis Chrysochous, causing immediate problems across the area.

Fire Service Spokesperson Andreas Kettis confirmed the service received ten calls reporting flooded roads and properties due to the rain.

The Polis Chrysochous Fire Station implemented a partial staff recall. The local Town Hall has taken responsibility for clearing road surfaces and unblocking rainwater drains.

The road connecting Polis Chrysochous to Latchi has closed due to water accumulation.

Furthermore, the road running from Polis Chrysochous – Argaka – Agia Marina Chrysochous has become dangerous. Authorities urge drivers to exercise extreme caution, drive at low speeds, and maintain safe distances.

Warnings Issued

Across Cyprus, severe weather conditions persist, particularly affecting the road networks in Paphos and the Nicosia – Limassol motorway. Drivers must be exceptionally careful, drive slowly, maintain safe distances from vehicles ahead, and ensure their headlights are on.

Roads in Polis Chrysochous remain affected. Police advise drivers to be especially cautious due to water pooling on Marios Avenue in Polis Chrysochous.
