Firm Stratix Wealth used fake €150 million energy deal to lure former minister in alleged corruption video

An investment entity operating under the name “Stratix Wealth” has been identified as the vehicle used in a sting operation targeting former Energy Minister Yiorgos Lakkotrypis and people close to President Christodoulides.

The entity was reportedly used by individuals posing as managers of a Dutch investment fund to entrap Lakkotrypis, as well as the director of the president’s office Charalambos Charalambous and businessman George Chrysochos, into conversations that were later edited to suggest a “corruption mechanism” within the Presidential Palace.

Lakkotrypis had reportedly entered into an agreement with the firm to provide expert energy consultancy for a purported €150 million investment in the Cypriot energy sector.

An investigation by philenews found that “Stratix Wealth” has no verifiable legal existence under that exact name.

While a company named Stratix is headquartered in Hilversum, the Netherlands, it has been confirmed to have no connection to the group that approached the former minister. Similar names appear in registries in the United Kingdom and the United States, further complicating the search for the people behind the recorded footage.

The video was originally uploaded to an account belonging to a “Emily Thompson,” who identifies herself as an independent researcher and lecturer focused on US foreign policy. However, Thompson appears to have no digital footprint beyond two geopolitical analyses on the “Eurasia Review” website.

Her account on the social media platform X lacks a consistent posting history, consisting primarily of reposts from established media outlets.
