Fatal accident in Paphos: 32-year-old driver dies after vehicle plunges into ravine

Saturday began with a fatal road accident in the Paphos district. One person lost their life in the incident that occurred in the community of Pentalia, in eastern mountainous Paphos. The deceased was driving a car which, under investigation, fell into a ravine. A 35-year-old friend was with him in the vehicle but had exited moments before to let out their hunting dogs, which they had brought to the area for training.

According to the Police, the incident on the road happened shortly before 9:00 AM on Saturday. Stylianos Genis, 32, from Geroskipou, was driving the car on a dirt road in a rural location in Pentalia when he lost control, under circumstances being investigated by the Police, resulting in the vehicle plunging into a ravine, causing him fatal injuries.

The 32-year-old had travelled to the area with his 35-year-old friend for dog training. The 35-year-old had disembarked from the vehicle shortly before the event, accompanying the dogs to the training spot.

The 35-year-old immediately informed the authorities by phone. Members of the Fire Service rushed to the scene and recovered the body of the deceased Stylianos, which was then transported by ambulance to Paphos Hospital.

The scene was cordoned off, and investigations were launched by members of the Paphos Traffic Police to determine the exact circumstances of the event.
