The Electricity Authority (EAC) will provide €500 in electricity bill relief to all customers in fire-affected communities, Energy Minister Georgios Papanastasiou announced on Wednesday.
The state utility will cover the relief from its reserves for all customer types in fire-hit areas, including residential, commercial and other properties, Papanastasiou told media.
Automatic relief without applications
According to the EAC, customers will not need to take any action to receive the €500 deduction from their next electricity bill. The only requirement is that the customer’s name appears on the relevant list of affected persons prepared by mapping services.
The authority also decided to suspend all electricity disconnection actions or disconnection notices for customers in affected areas until the end of September 2025.
Papanastasiou thanked the EAC and its staff for the decision and for ongoing efforts to restore many kilometres of network infrastructure and restore electricity supply, which has been achieved for several communities.
