Driver suffers leg amputations in serious motorway crash near Limassol

A 30-year-old Greek Cypriot driver suffered leg amputations and remains in very serious condition after his car veered off the Limassol-Paphos motorway and crashed into a metal barrier at midnight yesterday.

Limassol Traffic Police and Episkopi Police Station are investigating the crash, which occurred near the Erimi village exit on the motorway towards Limassol.

The car veered off course under circumstances being investigated and struck a metal barrier before coming to a stop. The Fire Service freed the driver, who was immediately taken to Limassol Hospital.

The 30-year-old suffered amputations to his legs and his condition is described as very serious, according to the latest information. Authorities are continuing investigations to determine the exact causes of the crash.
