Dr. Petros Karayiannis, member of the epidemiological team, told philenews that for as long as there are people who are not vaccinated, there will be people treated in hospitals.
He noted that if we reach 85% of vaccination coverage of the population then possibly we will be able to protect the people who are not vaccinated.
He also pointed out that even people who have been vaccinated can get the virus, even if it is more difficult, so they have to continue to respect the measures.
Special attention, he said, must be given to children younger than 12, which cannot be vaccinated, adding that health protocol must be respected in schools so that they children will not transfer the virus at home.
At the same time, he noted that the use of masks is being discussed in view of the beginning of the new school year.
