Party members who won seats in Parliament in the May 21 national elections will be sworn in at 18:00 on Sunday, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
The Greek president was invited to attend by Parliament President Constantine Tassoulas.
At 10:30 am on Monday, deputies will elect the president of Parliament by roll call, who must have the absolute majority of deputies in the 300-chamber.
The swearing-in, which was originally set for June 1, will occupy the new Parliament’s first session. The speeding up of the process was proposed by the former government, after the three major parties emerging from last Sunday’s national elections had, by Tuesday, successively turned down exploratory mandates by the president to form a government.
Sunday’s parliament is expected to dissolve on Monday, followed by an official announcement of runoff national elections to be held on June 25.
