Dali residents again up in arms over possible freezing of asphalt plant relocation decision

Dali area residents are getting overconcerned over the possible freezing of the government’s decision to relocate a controversial asphalt plant from there to Mitsero, Philenews reported on Thursday.

It seems that all will depend on the meeting the President is set to have on August 25 with the representatives of Mitsero area residents who are strongly opposing the imminent move.

Dali locals have repeatedly raised concerns about the plant which is causing air and nose pollution and is situated near the village’s primary and nursery school.

Mitsero locals share the same concerns and have proved they are determined to stop the implementation of this government decision through strong action like blocking roads and confronting riot police.

However, for the residents of Dali the criteria on the basis of which the government’s decision to move the asphalt factory was taken have raised serious questions.

Both the Municipality of Dali and the Movement for the Improvement of the Quality of Life, which represents the residents, have sent thee message that the criteria on the basis of which the decision was taken to move the plant factories from the area were primarily environmental and not political.

And that it is not up to the President to freeze the taken relocation decision.
