Coldest night of winter recorded with near-freezing temperatures

The coldest night of winter so far was recorded yesterday in several lowland and coastal areas, as clear skies combined with weakened winds led to a sharp temperature inversion, according to a kitasweather report.

The Department of Meteorology’s Athalassa station recorded a minimum temperature of 0.8°C, approaching 0°C, according to measurements.

At the same time, temperatures in coastal areas dropped to 3°C, including Zygi, Larnaca Airport, Aradippou and Xylofagou.
