Christmas packages sell out as Cypriots pick Poland, Munich and Prague

Poland has emerged as the preferred destination among Cypriots booking festive holidays abroad, with almost all Christmas packages now sold out.

The Eastern European country has been trending since summer and continues to draw unexpectedly high interest over the holidays, said Antonis Orthodoxou, press spokesman for the Travel Agents Association. “More people chose it than we expected,” he told Phileleftheros.

The market has performed very well, with Greece remaining the top choice but Cypriots branching beyond Athens. Thessaloniki, Arachova and Volos now rank high in preferences.

Vienna, Prague, Budapest and London are also seeing increased interest for festive breaks, whilst Munich has joined the mix for those spending the holidays outside Cyprus.

Most travellers opt for organised packages, which offer better value given increased hotel prices. Three main packages are available: 23-26 December, 24-28 December, and 27 December to 2 January.

Prices have climbed compared to last year. The cheapest package starts at €750 per person, with costs rising depending on choices.

Orthodoxou advised travellers to carry their passport as well as their ID card, noting that passports may be needed during trips.
