A bedroom and its entire contents lay in ruins after a fire ripped through a Geroskipou apartment on Saturday night. Firefighting crews rushed to the scene with two fully manned engines as the blaze took hold, forcing families into the street. Firefighters wearing specialised breathing apparatus battled the flames with high-pressure water hoses to prevent the fire from gutting the rest of the property.
Every occupant managed to evacuate the building before the fire could spread, and authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported. Initial investigations by the Fire Service suggest the inferno was sparked by the “careless activity” of the tenants’ underage children. Andreas Kettis, spokesperson for the Fire Service, confirmed the extensive damage to the bedroom and noted that prompt intervention stopped the situation from escalating.
