CCTV footage shows assailant in Limassol car loan office bombing

Closed-circuit surveillance footage from the Ayia Zoni area is under scrutiny by Limassol CID investigators following a criminal act early Tuesday morning at the offices of a company specialising in car loans. The explosion caused panic among residents and was heard across several areas of Limassol.

Authorities are in possession of CCTV footage capturing the perpetrator’s movements, according to sources. The video reportedly shows the suspect approaching the premises on foot, placing an explosive device—specifically, a factory-made paper cracker—at the base of the glass façade, and then leaving the scene.

Immediately following the blast, police sealed off the area and conducted examinations. A Limassol Police Directorate bomb expert participated in the investigation, concluding that the explosion was caused by a factory-made paper cracker, which resulted in extensive damage to the building’s glass front.

The premises house the offices of a car loan company whose owner is a foreign national. Investigators are examining all possibilities, including potential business disputes or other motives that may have led to the attack.

As part of the investigation, Limassol CID investigators are expected to take statements from both the company director and the owner to shed light on the circumstances and motives behind the criminal act. Concurrently, the evaluation of the visual material from area surveillance cameras continues in an effort to identify the perpetrator.
