The Cabinet Wednesday approved measures to support Greek language learning and assist those repatriating to Cyprus under the Minds in Cyprus scheme, Education Minister Athena Michaelidou announced.
The regulations form part of the government’s strategy for talent repatriation and aim to facilitate smooth reintegration of returning professionals and families, according to the minister’s statement.
New measures provide free Greek language classes for spouses and children through State Training Institutes, with costs covered by the Education Ministry budget, whilst expanding access to classes through Educational Centres.
The cabinet also increased annual grants offered to repatriated families choosing private education for their children from €768 to €1,000 for secondary education.

The minister noted that these decisions strengthen efforts to attract people with knowledge and skills back to Cyprus, contributing to the country’s advancement and creating additional development opportunities.
The Minds in Cyprus initiative is the government’s strategy to reverse brain drain and encourage diaspora professionals to come work in the country.
